You are cordially invited to a presentation & discussion by West Cork resident, Dr Colin Campbell on the issue of the global decline of oil stocks and its impact. The talk will take place in the West Cork Hotel at 8pm on Wednesday 26th January. Admission is free & all are welcome.

The presentation will be based on Dr. Campbell’s recent publication ‘The end of cheap oil’, published by Eagle Printing, Skibbereen. We will also be featuring part of a new documentary ‘End of Suburbia’, featuring Dr. Campbell and other leading oil experts from around the globe.

It is now reliably estimated that the world will be reaching the peak of oil production on or before 2010. Beyond peak oil, supplies will gradually become more scarce and more expensive. With world demand increasing, the decline in oil supply will have major consequences for us all. During the discussion we hope to address the likely local impacts on West Cork as an agricultural region and the possible impacts on farming and food supply.

Our research over the past year has highlighted the need to bring this matter to the attention of the public and particularly leaders in the community. We hope that you can attend the presentation next Wednesday and we would be very grateful if you could inform others. Yours sincerely,

Paul McCormick, Director, Growing Awareness
