Andy Ra, Maughanasilly, Kealkill, Bantry

Bluebells Visit Andy Ra’s beautiful example of living using local resources; local timber frame eco-house, green woodworking, organic vegetables, chickens and milking goats on 10 acres of woodland surrounded by 20 acres of field and bog. By living as close as possible to the ecosystem and using local resources Andy has minimal impact on the earth.

Directions

Just after Kealkill on the way to Ballingeary turn left after bridge by castle. After ½ mile take left fork. After 3 miles turn right after lake. Follow Farm Walk signs.

Forest Garden Trust, Kealkill

We are a group of permaculturalists who have bought 10 acres of valley land leading down to a stream. Seven years into the project most of the native broadleaf trees have been planted. There is also a longstanding food and medicinal garden, a small lake, stone and water features. Directions Two thirds up the Cousane Gap road from Kealkill there’s a wooden sign saying “Essiac Mondays” and parking in a large lay-by 50 yards on left.
